I agree with Zach mentioning in the chat that there is a place and time for escapist art and social political art. From this statement we can conclude that when it comes to teaching math we have to be mindful of being balanced. Too much social-commentary and politics and the students might be turned off, or think that math is all about current events. If we teach math from a pure math perspective, then students might also miss the idea that math can solve actual real world problems. It's hard to tell right now, and only experience can be the teacher when the time comes, as we as teachers must adapt to how the classroom takes in the information we present.
